By Hiker chick from Cambridge, MA on 09/01/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Great Traction, Non-slip sole, Water Resistant Best Uses: Backcountry, Cold weather, Day hikes, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels half size too small Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Just wore the new pair of these on a rocky 9 mile Franconia ridge hike. Comfy right out of the box. Good traction, great waterproofness. I did notice that the sole is more flexible than the current Keen Voyageur/ Truckee/ Targhee hiker models. That can be nice when you really need to bend your foot well or feel the ground, but my foot also tended to twist around in the footbox more, which aggravated a 3rd/ 4th toe rubbing issue I often have. It's a foot problem not the shoe's fault, but I didn't have it with the Voyageur b/c of its torsional stability. On the plus side, these were watertight as we trekked through streams and muddy territory, and softer than the Voyageur model. Great boot, just pick the optimal features for your use and preference.
